Environmental Emergencies

Environmental emergencies have become more common as children and adults participate in outdoor or indoor activities. Unfortunately, some of these can result in injuries such as drowning, burning or body temperature disturbances including hyperthermia and hypothermia. Recognition of symptoms and consideration of an environmental etiology of the clinical features will result in early diagnosis and appropriate management. One way to reduce the number of environmental injuries is by prevention.
