Management Of The Patient With Multitrauma

Trauma may occur after penetrating or blunt accidents, secondary to enfection and drug therapy or iatrogenically. The surgical intervention can also be descreibed as an elective trauma.
Trauma always has a high risk of death. Multiple trauma is one of the most important cause of death in recently. One third of the deaths caused by trauma occurs immediately, one third occurs in one or two hours after trauma due to uncontrolled bleeding or inadequate airway. The remaining occurs due to delayed diagnosis, pulmonary complications and uncontrolled enfections. According to the recent developments of technology in science, incidence of deaths caused by trauma has decreased significantly compared with the First World War.Keywords: Accidents; hemorrhage; multiple traumaTurkiye Klinikleri J Surg Med Sci 2007, 3(3):1-8
