Initial Approach And Treatment In Acute Renal Failure And Crush Syndrome

aNefroloji BD, Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, BURSA Acute Renal Failure (ARF) is one of the most complicated diseases a physcian can confront. Its most frequent cause is prerenal azotemia. If prerenal azotemia, obstructive uropaty, malign hypertension, renovasculer disease are diagnosed and treated, the prognosis of ARF is good. Crush syndrome is a clinical spectrum of rhabdomyolysis occuring in traumatic injuries like getting strangled in rubble in earthquakes. The most striking result of crush syndrome is ARF. The most importans component of therapy of crush syndrome is the treatment of hypovolemia. The initial approach for the prevention of ARF is primarily isotonic NaCl infusion and NaHCO3 infusion to promote alkaline urine.Keywords: Acute renal failure, Crush sydrome, treatmentTurkiye Klinikleri J Surg Med Sci 2006, 2(37):30-39
