These substances have been named as ectopic or inappropriate if they haven’t been related with tumor tissue. In the past While hormone secretion from a tumor was considered as a rare circumstance, it became a usual situation with the new methods emerged to determine the hormones. Cushing syndrome and adrenal insufficiency due to malignancy are two clinically important conditions. Adrenal insufficiency may be classified as primary, secondary and tertiary. The causes of primary insufficiency are generally tumors and medicines. While megesterol acetate is the cause of secondary insufficiency, long term glucocorticoid use and radiation of hypothalamic-pituitary axis result with tertiary insufficiency. In this paper Tumor related Cushing syndrome and adrenal insufficiency and treatment approaches will be discussed. Keywords: Cushing syndrome, adrenal insufficiency, malignancyTurkiye Klinikleri J Surg Med Sci 2006, 2(33):58-62
