Pulmonary Edema And Ards

Pulmonary edema is accumulation of excessive extravascular water in the lungs. Pulmonary edema occurs due to increased pressure or increased permeability. Increased permeability pulmonary edema is called acute lung injury or acute respiratory distress syndrome as clinical pictures. ARDS is associated with many different conditions, most common causes are sepsis, multiple trauma and pneumonia. Treatment of the underlying cause and a ventilator strategy that will not increase lung injury are important.Keywords: Pulmonary edema, ARDSTurkiye Klinikleri J Surg Med Sci 2006, 2(11):79-82
